Living near a US Airforce base for time to time you get to see some interesting rides. Maybe it was a response to 9/11 but there seemed to fewer rides from the Big 3, but plenty of Japanese and Koreans.
Maybe they are feeling more relaxed but this year there seems to be a much wider selection of GM, Ford and Chrysler-Dodge LHD vehicles. Clearly the number of personal imports from the States are up but the US military personnel all have their vehicles registered in another part of the country so they are very obvious. Hold on a second I thought the idea of registering their vehicles in the UK was to make them less obvious.
I digress, yesterday was a good day, 1 Hummer, 1 2007 Mustang, 1 60s Mustang, 1 Dodge Caravan, 1 Pontiac Grand Prix and 1 4th Gen Camaro.
The European Union had planned to make it illegal to sell goods in the EU unless they had measurements in Metric only. The proposed plans would have made it difficult for importers to bring in items from the US. The law would not have allowed goods to show both metric and imperial measurements as US currently do.
In May the European Union shelved plans to enforce metrification. Partly because it realised that European companies would have to change their packaging on exports to the US. This is great news for the lovers of American products.
